#3: The third and final cause of brain drain are toxins found in the foods you eat, the beverages you drink (including water, believe it or not)
Our food supply is loaded with pesticides and harmful chemicals. Our water isn’t the superior quality it used to be and even worse, many other everyday items that we’re constantly being exposed to cause brain drain. The first of these toxins is the fluoride found in most tap water, yes, I was shocked too. Fluoride in water has even been linked to lower IQs in children by some studies. 6
Another problem is the extremely common artificial sweetener aspartame. In a recent study published in the journal Redox Biology, aspartame — found in many diet foods and drinks—was shown to generate free radicals that can trigger the death of brain cells.7 Furthermore, studies show that foods containing high fructose corn syrup and even excess sugar—like many yogurts, beverages, desserts and condiments—can also damage and shrink the brain.8 Not to mention sugar’s profound effect on causing mental distraction in both kids and adults.9
And there’s more; many non-organic veggies like corn, soy, beets, zucchini and even summer squash are high in genetically modified organisms (GMOs) due to Frankenstein farming practices implemented by the food industry to allow for high dose chemical pesticide and herbicide use that would otherwise destroy the natural, organic versions of these crops. These GMOs can also be found in baby foods, most granola bars, virtually all breakfast cereals, breads, pastas, and even potentially within the protein fibers of the meat from animals that eat corn and soy like cattle and chickens.
Research shows, in simple terms, that GMOs can cause “Brain Rancidity”, meaning the vital omega-3 fats in your brain are literally caused to go rancid and become toxic.10 Even the coffee industry is experimenting with the use of the pesticide Endosulfan which is so toxic that a worldwide ban is being considered by the United Nations.11
Even moderate alcohol consumption has been shown to damage brain neurons, cell phone and WIFI radiation (which is practically unavoidable) has been linked to disruption of the protective blood-brain barrier (allowing greater levels of toxins into the brain that would otherwise be shielded), and the use of aluminum based antiperspirants and deodorants can cause toxic build-up of heavy metals in the brain.12-14

What’s in Brain Bright?

At the end of the study the Ginkgo group achieved a 55% improvement over the placebo group in recognition and general memory tests and an incredible 168% improvement was seen in specific memory tests.18
In a second peer-reviewed study, by Dr. David Kennedy at Northumbria University, a single dose of Ginkgo was demonstrated to almost instantly increase the speed of attention and quality of memory by 92% over the placebo group.19
